Sbírka skladeb Airs for the Seasons je unikátním dílem, ve kterém jsou zobrazeny roční období formou kvetoucích zahradních keřů a květin. Každé období obsahuje 24 krátkých sonát, celkem tedy 96 skladeb určených pro housle nebo flétnu a basso continuo. Bylo poměrně náročné podle původních anglických názvů zjistit, o kterou rostlinu se vlastně jedná, zvláště pak s ohledem na rozdílné skotské či anglické podnebí. Původně dvoudílný opus je v tomto vydání seřazen abecedně.
